Aging Considerations

As we age, certain physical change, life experiences and changing circumstances influence our vulnerability to mental illness. In late life, we must be aware of risks and symptoms of problems. Older adults are considered a “special population” because assessment and treatment may be different.

The mental well being of an older adult is tied to multiple variables. The more people know about these variables and associated risk factors, the better they can attend to potential problems and mental health needs that might arise.
